First Draft

People who are better in physical beauty have more advantages.

                                                                                                           20320Jeongyubin

Let’s suppose that the two women, one is pretty and the other is ugly, are running to the beach in front of you. How do you feel? Who are you looking at now? It would be the same answer when we even suppose there are two men. As you automatically see one who is better in physical beauty, we naturally tend to like more beautiful or handsome people even though we don't have any exact reasons. Then did you know that they also get more advantages? There were a lot of people who say 'No' to this question because they had just a belief that they don't want to admit it. For a long time ago, it was certain that here are also many cases they gain a lot of benefits just because of their physical attractiveness.

People who are relatively not better in physical beauty often feel humiliated and want to become more beautiful or handsome. They have an inkling that the people who are better in physical beauty get more advantages than themselves. If it would be really right, everyone would like to have a plastic surgery. Also all the misunderstandings that people regard it as a inequality would be disappear. Like this, it is really important problem that can bring the huge aftereffects. Then many would wonder why the physical beauty is so important for having a more advantageous lives than others.

Firstly, the people who are more beautiful or handsome are advantageous in a first impression which is really important for social relationships. The recent study, Heide, D'Angelo, &Schumaker, 2012, when people introduce themselves with their visual image which seems negative or introvert in facebook, it influences the contents of facebook or comments from his or her acquaintances negatively. Like this the first visual image of people's faces which is a first impression is really important factor which can affect many other things. Besides, there is a psychological effect which is the halo effect. It means that if a person has one good trait, other people might regard that person as he or she has also other good traits. From the psychology of happiness communication, that 'one good trait' often points to the beauty. Finally, people have stereotypical thinking that the people who are beautiful or handsome are also good at manner, jobs or personality. As the first impression is made through only few minutes, the physical beauty has to be important and advantageous.

Secondly, people judge everything with the physical beauty following the social cultures. Beliefs are formed in the subconscious mind as a result of repetition. One popular psychological fact states that if you met a person who was really nice and interesting then most probably you will think that all of those who look like him to be interesting people. This is the reason why you might not feel comfortable as soon as you see someone who looks like people you don't think good. Even though you might not notice this consciously, still subconscious mind will notice the similarity and will judge the person by only appearance. Also the media makes this pattern, too. The tv shows, movies or animations often related with crime and they portrayed good looking people as heroes while on the other hand they gave the evil roles to people who are not that much handsome or beautiful. Consequently, the media always associated with certain qualities with certain facial features and body shapes that could make stereotypical image for all the people. This is the biggest reason why do lots of people judge others by their outer appearance and physical beauty brings a lot of advantages.

Lastly, better physical beauty gives shows better characteristics. More and more people started to get a lot of plastic surgeries to become beautiful. It doesn't show only the fact that many people spend their money on plastic surgery but also a lot of people want to become more beautiful than before. Their most reasons were they had been discriminated by their appearance and wanted to take advantages similar to those who are beautiful. The examples of that advantages were really various such as when asking something, facial expression or talking. As many anticipated, they could feel the polite asking manner and see others who smile to them and hear praising words after having a plastic surgery. This can explain why people effort to be more beautiful or handsome is to improve their confidence. Also a study from Harvard University has shown that physical beauty makes potential ability whether it really exists. From this study, attractive people were rated more socially successful, more financially successful and happier than unattractive people by people who saw them for the first time. In Another study teachers were asked to rate students based on their pictures and some text reports that were almost identical to each student but that were rearranged to appear different. Teachers gave higher ratings to attractive students and believed that they are more intelligent while they thought of unattractive children as problem children. Other kind of study has shown that people tended to be more helpful when asked for help by an attractive or a well dressed person.

If people are asked they should judge the people by the physical beauty, many will answer telling you that you should not judge a book based on its cover and while that's a wise answer coming from the conscious mind of the person. It is true to judge people based on their looks is not always bring good outcomes. However there is a really true thing that physical beauty is extremely important. Also all studies have shown that people judge each other based on their physical looks at least until they start to know each other well. The answer is simple, just a people were told few times not to judge a book by its cover they were told numerous times indirectly to judge others based on their outer appearance.

Also some would argue about my opinion saying the inner beauty is also important and should not be overlooked. I also agree with this, however, following the polls of Korea psychological conferences, it was shown that only the 23 % believe that inner beauty is more important than physical beauty. There so many clear reasons that physical beauty brings a lot of advantages that I mention until now.

Physical beauty is important but it is more important to understand the correct phenomenon related to physical beauty so that people do not harm their self-esteem unintentionally. For these reasons, People who are better in physical beauty have more advantages although there are many things that can surpass the physical beauty, I think it is the most powerful that can gain many advantages.

People who are better in physical beauty have more advantages.

What I hope to learn from this source:

I want to find the importance of the physical beauty.

Notes:

Aristotle wrote, “beauty is the best introduction,”

Etcoff cited study after study that showed that attractive people were conferred advantages in life that had a material impact upon their happiness, social success, and professional well-being.

(Etcoff: )

Efcoff's experiment

One study Etcoff referenced stands out in my mind. She described a scenario in which two groups of subjects, one “attractive” and the other “unattractive,” were individually called into a board room on the assumption they were interviewing for a job. Each person was made to wait in an empty room. The reactions of both sets of individuals were then observed; the study found that the attractive subjects quickly became irascible and impatient, demanding to know where the interviewer was and insisting that they did not have time to endure unnecessary wait. By contrast, the unattractive subjects largely remained docile and patient, and endured without exhibiting the sort of hotheadedness shown by their more attractive counterparts. Various explanations can be posited for the contrasting reactions, but my immediate impression was that because the attractive subjects had been lavished with  attention and adoration throughout their lives, they were not accustomed to being inconvenienced in the slightest (imagine a runway model at an upscale New York restaurant who refuses to wait her customary “turn in line” for the restroom). Conversely, I reasoned that the unattractive individuals had been often shunned and deprived of affection and thus grown used to enduring disparate treatment. Etcoff pointed to a second study whose results were far more banal: when an attractive woman is stranded on the road seeking assistance, passers-by will immediately yield right to render help, while a less attractive woman is left to fend for herself, or must endure significant wait, before she is be cared for. Rather shameful discrimination, to be sure.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lookism

Etcoff was trying to convey, namely that individuals are treated differently, and hence often act differently, based on how others perceive and judge their level of attractiveness. Etcoff calls this phenomenon of disparate treatment “lookism.” For whatever reason, I am not fond of this term, so I shall instead call it “beautism.” However one my characterize it, it is a mentality for which I have developed a profound revulsion, one that I regard as being comparably insidious to racism and other forms of discrimination

 Final Thoughts:

As I want the scientific example, is was really specific and concrete.  Also I could find the problem or the reason of the opposite people.

Notes:

Although most of us to recognize the presence of too much value to set a fallacy, and we know that we do not condemn a person just by his appearance should be, but we want to get the symmetry is so rooted that we can, we do not doubt about it. You people can be a house, factory worker, a popular actress and a famous model, no matter who you are and what, you always look to you to be a lot of attention. Beauty and the intense desire to have more in modern society. I would like to be young to be old and ugly. Have you ever wondered that it is really important to have a good look? The natural appearance of a man's heart, I am sure that some of the symmetry means that you can not say.

In various countries, such as economic globalization, closer and closer together than ever are. Many go abroad for business and good will. In this case, you are not the only one, but in our own home, and have a good look, you better respect for others and the Committee also found a good impression to leave their homeland to help. They also want to know more about their business, it's all because of your beauty will help you communicate better with others.

Physical Beauty Is Very Important

We all know that the labor market in many countries in recent years has not been good. Postgraduate and doctoral students do not seem to fill many jobs. When you have more work, also described as looking like a very important role, although, depending on capacity. Is a good look, you can give a first impression of interviewers, it is the fundamental guarantee to get you the job. I truly believe it will be a good job, do not care much about your appearance, and when you find a satisfying job to be sure.

Interested in the smells of other dogs. Peacocks are interested in each others' plumages. Many things attract people to each other, one of which is symmetry. The food, care, or the desire for happiness as there is no doubt that the real feelings of pleasure symmetry. Symmetry in our brains, the program just like other things in our drive towards development, is a time to be alive, regardless of how old we are.

Final Thoughts:
As I imagined the first impression really shows that physical beauty is really important.

Week 9- Refutation and Concession

1. What is my thesis?

People who are better in physical beauty have more advantages although there are many things that can surpass the physical beauty

2. What is the opposite position?

Other factors

3. What arguments can I anticipate?

Polls from phychoogical experts

4) How will I counter thoese arguments?

If people are asked they should judge the people by the physical beauty, many will answer telling you that you should not judge a book based on its cover and while that's a wise answer coming from the conscious mind of the person. What I hope to learn from this source:

I want to find the exact meaning of physical beauty and emphsize the importance of it.

Notes:

how important is physical beauty

How important is physcial beauty?
Do wise people
judge others based on their appearance??
Many people will answer telling you that you should not judge a book based on its cover and while that's a wise answer coming from the conscious mind of the person saying it still his subconscious mind will contradict him and force him to judge people based on their looks during initial encounters.
Physical beauty is extreemly important and all studies have shown that people judge each other based on their physical looks at least until they start to know each other well.
Before I tell you about these studies let me first remind you that physical attraction standards differ from one person to another. This means that you might be thinking that you are totally unattractive yet some people still find you very attractive!
So physical beauty is important but its extreemly important that you understand the correct definition of physical beauty so that you don't harm your self esteem unintentionally.

The importance of physical beauty

According to the attractiveness halo effect theory people associate good traits with attractive people before they even come in contact with them.
A study has shown that attractive people were rated more socially successful, more financially successful and happier than unattractive people by people who saw them for the first time.
In Another study teachers were asked to rate students based on their pictures and some text reports that were almost identical to each student but that were rearranged to appear different.
Teachers gave higher ratings to attractive students and believed that they are more intelligent while they thought of unattractive children as problem children.
Another study has shown that people tended to be more helpful when asked for help by an attractive or a well dressed person.
I could list 100 studies but the conclusion will still be the same. Physical beauty is extreemly important.

What is physical beauty?

I know that at this point you might be feeling bad if you didn't believe that you are that attractive but the important point you must understand is that the physical attractiveness i was talking about throughout this article is one a that changes from one person to another.
Some people are only attracted to blonds while others are only attracted to brunettes. Some girls like white men while others only prefer dark men. What a person likes might be completely different than what another person likes and that's why its a big mistake to label yourself unattractive.
In the Solid Self confidence program i said that a person might find you unattractive and this is so normal but on the other hand you will find someone who believes that you are attractive.
So to sum things up, physical beauty is extreemly important but the good news is that physcial beauty standards differ from one person to another.
A self image problem happens when your looks doesn't match your beauty standards. For example if you believed that attractive people are slim ones and if you were not slim (but not obese) then you might believe that you are unattractive even though others might believe that you are attractive.
The problem here is with your own beauty standards and not with your looks. In order to like your looks in such a case you must fix your false beliefs about physical attractiveness.
